What to have ready when you call.

None of this is required — we'll happily walk you through it. But if you have the answers handy, most calls are done in about three minutes, and we can usually tell you what the visit will involve before we hang up.

A standard sweep with a Level 1 inspection takes 45 to 90 minutes on site.

What you're burning on
An open fireplace, a fireplace insert, a wood stove, or gas logs. Each one gets swept differently, so this decides what goes on the truck.

Roughly when it was last swept
"A couple of winters ago" or "no idea, we bought the house like this" are both perfectly good answers. NFPA 211 asks for an inspection at least once a year, so we'll start there either way.

What you've noticed
A campfire smell in the room on damp days. Smoke rolling back in instead of up. Dark stains on the brick or the wall above the mantel. A fire that never quite draws. Tell us the symptom, however small.

Your address
It tells us which of the three offices is closest, and how soon one of our own technicians can be at the door. We never subcontract the visit.

Whether it's an emergency
Say so in the first sentence. An active problem — smoke in the house, a chimney fire, water pouring in — goes to the front of the line, at any hour.
